Rajamahendravaram: Rajamahendravaram is fast becoming a major centre in the fields of textiles, jewellery, education and medicine. Major brands in textile and jewellery have opened their outlets in the city, which is centrally located between Vijayawada and Visakhapatnam. Moreover, the city has good road, rail and air connectivity to different parts of the state making it advantageous to businesses.

According to a textile trader Kasinadh, people from nearby towns such as Palacol, Tadepalligudem, Nidadavolu, Kovvur and Narsapur in West Godavari district and various places in East Godavari district are thronging the city for purchasing cloths and jewellery.

Around 2.5 lakh people from different places visit the city daily for their needs . Though many branded shops are coming to the city, textile, gold and silver shops that have been functioning for decades are doing their business because of their quality.

A housewife M Sarala said new jewellery and textile shops have been attracting people as they are offering innovative designs and varieties besides irresistible offers.

In textiles, famous brands like Neeru’s, KLM, South India Mall, Romam, Pantaloons, Trigger, Max, Unlimited, CMR, Srinikethan, Kala Mandir, Kalanokethan, RIL Trends have set their shops in the cultural capital. In jewellery, Vaibhav, Joy Alukkas, Mohammed Khan and Sons, Titan, Khazana, etc., are posing a challenge to the established traditional shops in the city.

Besides, super markets such as Walmart, Spencers, More, Reliance Mart, Reliance Digital, Reliance Foot Prints, Reliance Fresh and Big Bazaar are also doing good business in the city.

Further, there has been a mushroom growth in the field of health and medicare as many super speciality hospitals have started offering their high quality services and more are coming up in the city.
