Penukonda (Anantapur): For South Korean automobile major Kia Motors managing director Kookhyun Shim and his team, it was a day of celebration as the company plant was built in a record and unprecedented time of one year as the company started its construction in November 15, 2017 and graduated to produce its first car in January 2019.

Speaking on the occasion, Shim called the achievement an important milestone in the company's history. He hailed Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu for his excellent cooperation and for promptly delivering on his promises to create all infrastructural facilities, including provision of 500-odd acre land, power supply and even water supply from the Gollapalle reservoir.

He lauded the commitment of the AP government and particularly the support of district administration and the Andhra Pradesh Industrial Infrastructure Corporation (APIIC). He commended the role played by the AP Skill Development Corporation in preparing industry-ready candidates. He said that the partnership between the AP government and the Kia Motors opened a new chapter in further bringing new investments into AP.

Kia chief executive officer Han Woo Park described the journey of Kia in AP, Anantapur, as an incredible journey. Overwhelmed by the achievement, Park said it was made possible only by the dynamic Chief Minister of AP Naidu.

He maintained that the support which came from all quarters of the government was tremendous. He said that due to the visionary leadership provided by Naidu, AP would soon emerge as the automobile hub of the country. Kia, he said, would contribute to creation of a new India. The customers of Kia would be empowered to graduate into global citizens, he said.

Han Woo Park also spoke of partnership with AP in promoting electric cars and also the state-of -the-art technology into the country. He promised Kia’s contribution to local development through its Corporate Social Responsibility programmes. He said that the Anantapur plant was the 15th addition to Kia Motors Group.

South Korea Ambassador to India, Shin Bongkil, stated that the Kia Motors project in AP would be another milestone in the economic and bilateral relations between India and South Korea. He expressed his deep sense of gratitude to Chief Minister Naidu.

He recalled his meeting with Naidu in 2017 wherein the power point presentation of the Chief Minister impressed him very much. He said that he hoped to see South Korean presence in every part of AP state. He added that he looked forward for the second batch of cars which would be rolled out in September 2019.
