Tirupati: On the penultimate day of annual Brahmotsavams at Appalayagunta, Rathotsavam was observed with religious fervour on Saturday.

The processional deities of Lord Sri Prasanna Venkateswara Swamy along with Sridevi and Bhudevi took celestial ride on the tastefully decorated wooden chariot along the streets encircling the shrine. Devotees gathered in large numbers to pull the chariot with utmost enthusiasm chanting Govinda Namam.

The unique feature about this chariot festival is that, in all other Vahanams, the devotees can witness the procession, but here they participate in chariot pulling. Temple special grade Dy EO Munirathnam Reddy, AEO Subrahmanyam and Superintendent Gopala Krishna Reddy took part in the fete.
