UM Renegade Classic cruiser features, pruce in India at Auto Expo 2016
Delhi Auto Expo 2016 sees UM Motorcycles showcase three cruisers at India’s biggest automobile extravaganza. UM Motorcycles begins it’s Indian market journey with three cruisers, Renegade Classic, Renegade Commando, and Renegade Sport S. All three cruisers are powered by a 279 cc single-cylinder water-cooled engine.
Delhi: UM Motorcycles have officially annoucned their arrival in India.
Delhi Auto Expo 2016 sees UM Motorcycles showcase three cruisers at India’s biggest automobile extravaganza. UM Motorcycles begins it’s Indian market journey with three cruisers, Renegade Classic, Renegade Commando, and Renegade Sport S. All three cruisers are powered by a 279 cc single-cylinder water-cooled engine.
UM Renegade Sport S cruiser sits in the mid size capacity cruiser market (250cc-800cc). UM International in alliance with Lohia Auto has invested Rs 100 crore. Manufacturing continues at Lohia Auto Kashipur plant. The project supports the government’s ‘Make in India’ initiative. While production capacity will be increased over time at the plant, manufacturing in India helps in localisation. The UM Renegade Sport S cruiser engine is being imported.
Headquartered at New Delhi, currently UM Motorcycles is occupied in appointing dealers across India. The company looks to have a vast distribution network with expansion garnered through tier 2 and tier 3 cities and small towns in the months to come. Bookings for UM Renegade cruiser series will open at Auto Expo 2016.
UM Motorcycles looks forward to replicate the global success of UM Renegade cruiser series of motorbikes in India. Following Harley Davidson, this is the second big American motorcycle maker to enter the country with the approach of using the Indian plant as an export hub at an opportune time. Partnering with Lohia Auto to manufacture in India gives UM Motorcycles a strategic advantage when it comes to offering competitive entry price points.
UM Renegade cruiser series is designed for the South Asian market, and exports from India will begin at a later date.
