In June 2016, the upmarket people carrier clocked an impressive 8,171 units, entering the top 10 list (9th) in the process.

The fact that it is the most expensive car among the top 10 best-selling cars in India last month shows shows how strong the product’s brand pull is. Toyota engineers have upped the ante by several notches across all the aspects to arrive at what could be described as a complete all-rounder.

While the previous gen Innova proved to be a consistent volume churner for the brand throughout its lifespan, its monthly sales figure never crossed 7,000 units even once. The new Innova Crysta with its luxurious interior, powerful engine and enhanced safety package now competes with SUVs in the INR 20-25 lakh segment.

The family MPV is based on the second gen IMV platform which is shared with the new Fortuner. Powering comes either from a 150 PS 2.4-litre diesel or 177 PS 2.8-litre diesel motor. Bookings for the petrol variant have just commenced.
