cmTirupati: Chief Minister N Kiran Kumar Reddy reiterated that the State government has allocated Rs 7,390 crore to resolve problem of drinking water scarcity throughout the district on a permanent basis by getting Telugu Ganga water from Kandaleru reservoir. Participating in 'Amma Hastham' programme in B.Kothakota in Chittoor district on Wednesday, he said that the government was committed to provide drinking water to every village across the State. The Chief Minister said that he was sanctioning Rs 54 crores to Tamballapalle Assembly constituency to provide drinking and irrigated water from Handri-Niiva to Kandukuri Lake and two other lakes. To take the people of this drought-hit zone on the path of development, he said that a tourism project was on the anvil in addition to establishment of industries in Mallaiah Konda, he said. He inaugurated and laid down foundation stones to several welfare and developmental projects during the programme at a cost of Rs 18.52 crores. He also distributed welfare schemes worth about Rs 121.08 crores to the intended beneficiaries. He inaugurated newly constructed class rooms, mandal level community buildings built at B.Kothakota, Kurabalakota, Peddamandyam and PTM in Tamballapalle constituency. He also promised to sanction Rs 4.73 crore to Tamballapale constituency for providing drinking water to all hamlets. He explained to them about the benefits of SC/ST sub-plan, 'Amma Hastham' and other welfare schemes. He said that women could get 50 per cent reservation in the next coming local body, panchayath raj and municipal elections. To elevate the women in all fields of endeavor, the State government was providing Rs 13,000 crore per annum against the total worth of Rs 25,000 crores at the national level, he said. During this programme, the Chief Minister announced several schemes to Tamballapalle assembly constituency like Rs 54 crores for drinking and irrigation water projects, degree college with an outlay of Rs. 5 crore, new bus stand in B.Kothakota with Rs 1 crore, new junior college with Urdu department, Rs. 30 lakh for new building to sub-registrar's office, Rs 15 lakh for library, Rs. 50 lakh for Cement Concrete roads, Rs 25 crores for new road between B.Kothakota and Molakalacheruvu, Rs 16 crore to other roads and few other developmental works. Minister for Geology and Mines Galla Aruna Kumari, Civil Supplies Minister Sridhar Babu, MLCs Gopinath, Reddpa Reddy, MLAs Dr Kuthuhalamma, Dr Ravi Kumar, Shajahan, Rajampet MP Sai Prathap, former MLA Kalicherla Prabhakar Reddy, District Collector Solomon Arokia Raj, Joint Collector Vinay Chand were also present on the occasion.
