Priyamani is Alluri scion in Chandi

Director Samudra, known for films like ‘Tiger Harischandra Prasad’, ‘Evadaithe Naakenti’ and ‘Simha Rasi,’ is ready with his new movie ‘Chandi’ with Priyamani. Speaking about the film, he said, “It is a revenge drama which will get the audience thinking, just like my earlier films. Priyamani did a lot of stunts herself exceptionally well”.

About her role, he said, “She plays a fourth generation girl from Alluri Seetarama Raju family who fights against government lands and SEZ’s which are only sanctioned, but not used. She stands tall against the corrupt politicians”. About senior actors in the film, he added,” Krishnam Raju plays Priyamani’s father. We wanted a rebellious character and he fitted the bill perfectly.

Sharath Kumar plays a CBI officer.” On why the movie cost the producer ‘a bomb’, he said, “The script demanded more budget, so we had to go for it.” Dr Sreenu Babu who is producing the movie under Omix Creations, said, “Although we wanted to cast Anushka, the role finally went to Priyamani who did a wonderful job”.

The makers initially planned to release the movie last month, but had to hold back after big ticket movies like ‘Attarintiki Daaredhi’ and ‘Ramayya Vastavayya’ released in quick successions. The producer, who has bagged the dubbing rights for Ajith Starrer ‘Aarambham’ for a fancy price, also revealed his future plans saying that he wants to focus on producing big budget movies rather than small films as barring a select few small films, many others are ‘not even getting noticed’
