While Telugu cinema audiences don’t really expect logic – considering the dose of films that is forever offered to us – what most of us do not mind is a movie sans logic that offers a few laughs and loads of quirky moments.
So keeping in mind that we have nothing exceptional, let’s delve into the film’s review.
Siddhu (Sumanth Ashwin) has been thorough a whole lot of heartaches, thanks to Chitra Balasubramanyam (Nanditha) who has been the reason of two of his breakups.. However, he falls for her without knowing that she was the one who had caused him the pain. When he comes to know about the stab in the back, he changes identity and stalks her; but like a blast from the past, his ex-girlfriends enter the scene. Spun around this is a story about Siddhu and his ‘Lovers’.
This film reminds us of college romances – silly and meaningless but nevertheless endearing – and it’s kind of funny that Siddhu acts all grown up while he is just studying engineering. And because of that fact, this movie would be a suitable watch for college students who are probably experiencing the joys of first love.
The story of ‘Lovers’, though interesting has no depth and offers nothing novel. It is just a combination of funny one-liners, which would appeal to infatuated teens. Maruthi has rendered some interesting dialogue writing. However, a better scripted story would have done the trick.
Performances by Sumanth and Nanditha are good. They emote well and thrive in comedy sequences.
But if we really had to point out the real heroes of the film, it would be the character artistes, especially the likes of Saptagiri and Sai who bring the house down with their antics.
Tunes by JB are good and lullaby to the ears. All in all, ‘Lovers’ is a fare that can be watched once.
However, missing it wouldn’t do much harm. This flick would probably be good for a date that isn’t going really well.
