Buoyant with the success of T-Hub, now into second phase of development, the Telangana government on Thursday announced a plan to set up Women Empowerment Hub (We-Hub) for encouraging female entrepreneurs in the State.

Hyderabad: Buoyant with the success of T-Hub, now into second phase of development, the Telangana government on Thursday announced a plan to set up Women Empowerment Hub (We-Hub) for encouraging female entrepreneurs in the State. The State government will encourage women entrepreneurs by earmarking 25 per cent of government purchases for businesswomen only.

Addressing the concluding session of the Global Entrepreneurship Summit (GES-2017) here, Telangana Industry & IT Minister KT Rama Rao said: “The Telangana government is setting up an exclusive platform called ‘We-Hub’ for women entrepreneurs.

To provide funding support to women entrepreneurs, the government has decided to float a corpus of Rs15crore. In addition to this, government will purchase 25 per cent of total procurement from women entrepreneurs only. We-Hub will take care of capital and mentorship requirements of budding women entrepreneurs. I have no doubt that We-Hub will become a role model platform for entire India.”

NITI Aayog CEO Amitabh Kanth, Telangana IT Secretary Jayesh Ranjan and other officials participated in the concluding ceremony. KTR further said that T-Hub would be providing guidelines and mentorship to several states. “GES-2017 has brought a new hope to women entrepreneurs as it built up confidence among them.

With this summit, Hyderabad has proved that it has capacity to hold global summits. During the three days, over 200 speakers participated in 53 discussions. Prime Minister Narendra Modi, US President Donald Trump's advisor Ivanka Trump appreciated the way GES was organised.”

As part of the concluding ceremony, GES carried out a competition for startups. Frontier Market stood first among GES startups competition and its CEO AjaithShaw received $4lakh from GES representatives from the US.
