At least eight school children were injured when the vehicles they were travelling in two separate mishaps in the city on Monday.

In the first incident at Meerpet, a bus carrying pupils from Brilliant Grammar School overturned after being hit by a speeding lorry at TKR junction. Four students Harshita, Rithvik, Naga Sindhu and Karthi, besides driver Venkatesh and a female attendant, sustained injuries.

The passerby called an ambulance and helped shift the injured pupils to Kamineni Hospital. The lorry driver was taken into custody by the Meerpet police for investigation.

In the second incident at Karmanghat X roads, an auto-rickshaw belonging to Sri Chaitanya Techno School which was carrying eight students overturned as the driver lost control over the vehicle when he applied brakes. The vehicle careered out of control and four students were injured in the incident. The injured students are Pavan, Srujan, Kaushik and Gautham. They were admitted to a nearby private hospital.
