Agriculture minister Prattipati Pulla Rao is taking keen interest in creating a land bank for establishing industrial corridors in his constituency Chilakaluripet. Fifty per cent of his constituency falls under the jurisdiction of Capital Region Development Authority (CDRA). The Edlapadu mandal will soon be hosting several industrial corridors related to cotton, wool and oil industries. Already the mandal has 50 cotton spinning mills and wool industries. The recent addition was the Spices Park which will soon be employing 2,000 locals.
Joint Collector Cherukuri Sridhar is working on pooling all assigned lands to create a land bank for promoting industrialisation. The state government has sanctioned two textile parks at Gopalamvaripalem in Chilakaluripet constituency and has also released funds for buildings and infrastructure creation. Several private industrial groups are evincing interest to set up units in the industrial corridors pooled for land bank.
The joint collector is also pooling 1,000 acres of land in the Chodavaram-Thimmapuram area in the Kondaveedu region for development of tourism projects. He is also retrieving assigned lands from parties who purchased the lands from the weaker section beneficiaries. The 1,000 acre land will be transformed into an industrial corridor which will be right under the nose of capital region. Sridhar is also planning a Nano Technology Park in the region.
Meanwhile several pharmaceutical companies are evincing interest in setting up companies in Repalle region. Recently a pharma group Serine Drugs visited Dindi village in Nizamapatnam mandal for establishment of a Pharma corridor and have asked for 600 acres of land for their project. Another industrial group is also planning an industrial park and developing infrastructure on their own who in turn will be allotting facilities in the park.
They are also setting up a sea water treatment plant to serve the requirements of the industrial park. The State also has indentified 12,000 acres of land for industrial promotion in Repalle. To trigger in industrial development a road for industrial promotion from Tada in Nellore to Ichapuram in Srikakulam is being contemplated connecting all the districts and ports that are likely to come up.
