In Internet era, some words are gaining completely different meanings: cookies are not only biscuits (edibles) but also refers to small (digital) files storing data.

Cook (noun) is a person who can cook (verb) or prepare food in a professional or general way. Most mothers are excellent cooks, and few fathers can cook but most of them are useless in the kitchen.

Cook also functions as a verb: prepare food by heating and mixing and grinding and chopping…and involves skill, experience and imagine.

Cook has another distinct meaning: to falsify facts, accounts, alter results or make-up something deliberately to get desired results (cook the books).

What is cooking there could figuratively refer to what has been plotted, what is discussed.

Cookery books have rose to prominence towards the 20th century, and cookery shows have become part of television programming.

Cooked up also means lying.

Cookie is a small flat sweet cake, or a biscuit.

The alternative spelling for cookie is cooky.

Cookie is a cook on a ranch or ata camp, also spelt as cooky.

Cookie as a slang refers to someone who is a special kind, a rare types (she’s a cookie).

What is the difference between a chef and cook?

Chef is a professional person whose job or livelihood revolves around cooking, and also managing and mentoring the cooks.
