​Warangal: The Deputy Chief Minister K Srihari informed that the State government has sanctioned Rs 2.10 crores towards conducting Urs celebrations of historic Hazrat Sayed Shah Afzal Biabani Dargah on a grand scale in Kazipet.

The Urs celebrations are scheduled to be held from November 26 to 28. In view of which, the Deputy CM along with officials and legislators has visited the dargah on late evening hours of Wednesday and held a review meeting to discuss about the required arrangements.

Speaking on the occasion, Srihari said the government was giving priority towards the development of places of worship of all religions. The funds allocated should properly be used and arrangements should be started a week prior to the scheduled commencement of the Urs.

Since lakhs of devotees from across the country would visit the place on the occasion, special care should be taken to maintain proper sanitation, supply of water, electricity and security. Repairs should be carried on the road from Fatima Nagar bridge to dargah along with providing street lights and flood lights.

MLA D Vinay Bhasker asked the officials of all departments concerned to work in coordination for the success of the celebrations. GWMC Mayor N Narender assured all steps from the corporation side for the smooth conduct of the celebrations.

As a follow up action, on Wednesday Commissioner of Police G Sudheer Babu and Warangal Urban District Collector Amrapali K held a meeting with officials of different departments to chalk out detailed plan of action towards the Urs arrangements.

The District Collector asked the officials to call for short-term tenders to carry out repairs on the road leading to the dargah and to set up parking lots, along with proper lighting. CCTVs have to be installed wherever required and all the arrangements should be completed by November 20.

The Commissioner of Police assured to provide elaborate security arrangements for Kazipet dargah Urs, which has been known as symbol of communal harmony. He said women police constables would be deployed as women in large numbers would attend the celebrations.

The Dargah Sajjada Nasheen (pontiff) Kushroo Pasha, Joint Collector S Dayanand, District Revenue Officer K Shoba, Municipal Corporation Superintendent Engineer Md. Rahman, DCP MS Venugopal Rao, ACPs B Janardhan, K Eashwar Rao and others were present.
