Hanamkonda: The Chief Minister, K Chandrashekar Rao, was resorting to vote bank politics by proposing 12 per cent reservations to Muslims in the State, alleged BJP Warangal Urban district president Rao Padma.

She said that the CM, though fully aware of the impossibility of offering reservations on religion basis, was trying to take forward the proposal and was trying to introduce a bill in the assembly. The CM should understand that religious reservations were against the constitutional spirit.

Padma has on Friday flagged off a massive bike rally organised by Bharatiya Janata Yuva Morcha of Warangal Urban in Hanamkonda opposing Muslim reservations. Speaking to presspersons on the occasion, she demanded the government withdrawal of the proposal for Muslim reservations.

If the TRS government fails to withdraw the proposal and goes ahead with it, the BJP state unit would exert pressure on the Centre to stop the State government, she warned. BR Ambedkar has also ruled out religious reservations in jobs and education, she reminded.

Ex-MLAs M Dharma Rao and M Satyanarayana, the party leaders G Siva Kumar, L Santhosh Reddy, BJYM leaders A Rakesh Reddy, B Shravan, Murali Krishna, Nikhil Thakur, A Dharmaraj, Ramkey Yadav and others were present.

Later on the day, at a programme organised by the BJP OBC Morcha, Rao Padma, party leaders Dr S Vijaya Lakshmi, Rao Amarender Reddy, Morcha state secretary Bingi Srinivas, Perugu Suresh, Jannu Madhu and others have paid homage to Savithri Bai Phule on her 120th death anniversary.
