Nizamabad: District Telangana Agricultural Workers Union general secretary Peddi Venkatramulu criticised the budget presented by the Finance Minister Etala Rajendra and said it was anti-poor and hits and farmers hard. Speaking to the media here on Tuesday, he said that 93 per cent of the people would suffer due to the budgetary allocation.
Coming down heavily on the TRS government for allocating a meager amount of Rs 3,000 crore for agriculture, he said that more than 75 per cent of the state’s population who were dependent on agriculture would face immense hardships. It would be very difficult to pay wages to the agricultural labourers with this amount, he added.
Vankataramulu said that it was unfortunate that even the Central government allocated just Rs 48,000 crore for agriculture and washed its hands off, leaving the farmers in the lurch. He wondered as to who the amount of Rs 800 crore was sufficient for the Arogyasri scheme when so many poor people were dependent on it.
Launching a scathing attack on the government , he said that Bangaru Telangana would never be realised if agriculture was neglected and instead, a Telangana which caters to the extremely rich people would be realised.
