Karimnagar: Commissioner of Police V B Kamalasan Reddy suggested the owners of internet centres to get license by April 15 to run their centres as per the guidelines released by Communication and Information Technology Department (C&IT) of the Central Government.

He organised a meeting with the owners of internet centres at Late John Wilson Memorial Open Air Theatre here on Thursday.

Speaking at the meeting, the Police Commissioner said that the Telangana government issued GO MS No.61 on December 17, 2014 as per the guidelines of Central government’s C&IT department.

According to the GO, all the persons, who have been running internet centres, must follow certain rules and regulations. They must maintain a log register in the internet centres and must submit one hard and one soft copy in the Commissionerate office by 5th of every month, the Commissioner directed.

Action will be taken on the internet centres’ owners as per law if they encourage pornography and any cruel or anti-social activities using internets, he warned.

There is a possibility that some persons by using internet services may try to provoke the youth to participate in anti-social activities like terrorism. Keeping in view of nation’s security, the internet centre owners must take perfect steps otherwise they too may become victims.

The Police Commissioner advised them to install web cameras and take the photographs of the costumers and to maintain the height of the cabin around 4.5 feet along with restricting the minors entering into the internet centres except those, who come along with their parents.

He also told them to install CCTV cameras at the entrance of the internet Centres. Assistant Commissioners of Police J Rama Rao and V Thirupathi, Inspectors Tula Srinivas Rao, K Hari Prasad Sadanandam, Shivadhar Reddy and SBI Manager Pramod Rao were also present along with others.
