Bhupalpalli: State Assembly Speaker S Madhusudhana Chary has directed officials to speed up land acquisition for construction of government residential educational institutions in Bhupalpalli assembly constituency.

He held a review meeting with District Collector A Murali and other district officials at Bhupalpalli on Wednesday. Speaking on the occasion, he said the State government has been giving importance to offer corporate level education to SC/ST/BC and minority students.

The Speaker wanted the revenue officials to procure one acre land for constructing SC post metric boys’ hostel at the district headquarters. Similarly he wanted about 15 acres land each for residential institutions proposed in Regonda and Bhupalpalli mandals and at Gandhi Nagar in the constituency.

Madhusudhana Chary informed that a total of 3,400 double bedroom houses were sanctioned under the assembly segment. The officials should take care in selecting genuine beneficiaries and houses should be constructed on dispute-free government lands.

Four panchayat secretaries suspended

Later on the day, the Collector, Murali has chaired a meeting to review progress of ongoing development works in Bhupalpalli district. He told the officials to strive to work towards fulfillment of government aspirations in implementing welfare programmes.

He directed the forest officials to construct water ponds in the forests to ensure water supply to wild animals and equip the ponds with solar pump sets.

The Collector suspended four panchayat secretaries of Mahamuttaram mandal for alleged negligence of duties.

A Raji Reddy of Kankoor, Sailu of Regulagudem, Gangadhar of Burlagudem and Srinivas of Mahamuttaram were those who were suspended.
