The Bijigiri Sharief of Jammikunta was selected for the Central government’s prestigious scheme, ‘Shyama Prasad Mukherji Rurban Mission (SPMRM).
Karimnagar: The Bijigiri Sharief of Jammikunta was selected for the Central government’s prestigious scheme, ‘Shyama Prasad Mukherji Rurban Mission (SPMRM).
Based on the initiation taken by Finance Minister Eatala Rajendar and Karimnagar MP Boinapally Vinod Kumar, the Chief Minister, K Chandrashekar Rao, had submitted proposals to the Central government seeking inclusion of Bijigiri Sharief in the national Rurban Mission.
The Central government had introduced the SPMRM scheme in 2016 to deliver integrated project-based infrastructure in rural areas, which will also include development of economic activities and skill development. The preferred mode of delivery is through ‘Public Private Partnerships (PPPs), while using various scheme funds for financing.
The Mission aims at development of rural growth clusters, which have latent potential for growth, in all states and Union Territories (UTs), which would trigger overall development in the region. These clusters would be developed by provisioning of economic activities, developing skills and local entrepreneurship and providing infrastructure amenities. The Rurban Mission will thus develop a cluster of Smart Villages.
As per the guidelines released by the Centre, the Commissioner of Rural Development Department had issued an order with number 3537/Training/RD/TS/2018 on August 18 to District Collector Sarfaraz Ahmed mentioning the inclusion of Bijigiri Sharief (Jammikunta mandal) cluster under Rurban scheme. Receiving the orders, the Collector constituted committees concerned under the scheme with himself as the chairman and district officials as the members of the Committee.
Joint Collector, District Rural Development Officer, District Country and Town Planning Officer will be members of the district project monitoring unit. For the development of the Cluster about Rs 30 crores will be sanctioned along with an additional amount of Rs 100 crores by various departments of the Union government for the developmental activities in several mandals and villages under the Scheme.
District Country and Town Planning Officer and Joint Project Officer of Huzurabad will prepare an action plan for Cluster Development Monitoring Unit under which training will be given in developmental skills for the youth, modern and advanced methods of cultivation for farmers, construction of godowns, said the Collector.
He also said that by forming ‘Mobile Health Teams’, treatment will be given immediately visiting all villages that cover under cluster and introducing of digital classes in schools, maintaining of cleanliness, providing pure drinking water, construction of drainage canals, laying of CC roads along with linking them with every village for providing better transport facility with arranging RTC bus services and providing LED lights in villages are the developmental activities that will be taken up under the Rurban scheme, Collector Sarfaraz Ahmed explained.
