More than 4-5 lakhs of Indians are dying every year due the failure of their major functioning organs and in most of the cases, patients die before they get the organ they need. Need of organ transplants is continuously increasing with the growth and development of the new technologies and therapies which has resulted in an increase in the number of patients on the waiting list. The idea behind this walkathon is to encourage and raise awareness on organ donation and transplantation, so that each person can decide on donation and make their wishes known to their family. I would also to like to take this opportunity to honor all organ donors and their families and thank them for saving lives and improving the quality of life of many people through this cause.”

While participating in this awareness campaign, the chief guest Dr. C. SylendraBabu, IPS, Additional Director General of Police, Coastal Security Group - Tamilnadu expressed his heartfelt gratitude for being invited to be part of this walkathon to spread awareness on organ donation.
