Gajwel: Goud Community members and leaders in Gajwel Mandal on Friday expressed their gratitude to the Chief Minister who rained sops on their profession of toddy-tapping by doing milk bathe to the portrait of chief minister K Chandrasekhar Rao at Telangana Thalli statue here.

The toddy tappers, who shouted slogans in favour of the government, said their profession was neglected by the previous governments. But the TRS government had announced several life-changing announcements and waivers for our community.

After CM conferred benefits on their profession, the Goud communities in several mandal headquarters in the district conducted milk bath to the photos of KCR who announced, on Thursday, the waiver of tree tax for excise trees, enhancement of pensions for toddy tappers from Rs 200 to 1,000 per month, ex-gratia increased to Rs 5 lakh from Rs 2 lakh for the accidental death from the tree or causing permanent disability and fast migration from TFT (Tree For Tapper) license to TCS (Toddy Tappers Cooperative Society) license within 10 days and extension of renewal of license to 10 ten years. The TRS chief also announced Rs 5 crore and 5 acre land for Gouda Welfare Bhavan in Hyderabad.
