sri2 Hyderabad: Senior IAS officer Y Srilakshmi, an accused in the Obulapuram Mining Company (OMC) case, surrendered in the CBI court at Nampally on Thursday after her interim bail lapsed. The IAS officer came to the court in a wheel chair citing illness as a reason and sought extension of her interim bail plea on health grounds. The court asked the Osmania General Hospital doctors to submit a full medical report on Srilakshmi's health by next hearing on March 25. The court sent her to judicial remand till March 25. She was arrested by the CBI on November 28, 2011, following allegations that she granted undue favours in permitting mining leases to the company owned by former Karnataka minister Gali Janardhana Reddy. The Centre has already permitted the CBI to prosecute Srilakshmi under the provisions of the Prevention of Corruption Act.Srilakshmi is first of the several IAS officers accused in the three high profile cases being pursued by the CBI in the state to be permitted for prosecution. The Centre has already permitted prosecution of IRAS officer KV Brahmananda Reddy in the Vanpic (Jagan assets) case.
