Hyderabad: Appealing to Seemandhra people to give up their agitation against bifurcation of State and cooperate with the Centre to complete the process for the creation of Telangana State smoothly, Housing Minister N Uttam Kumar Reddy said that there is no question of revocation of the Congress decision even if the united Andhra movement intensified further.

Addressing the press here on Saturday after holding a review on the progress of housing schemes, he said the party was committed to its decision to carve out Telangana state and implement the same in true spirit. People of Seemandhra have every right to fight for their rights. Their rights would be addressed by the party through consultations, he said. Urging the Seemandhra leaders and agitating organisations to raise their grievances and demands before Antony Committee, the Minister said Congress will render justice to all in an amicable way. The demand to announce Hyderabad as permanent joint capital for both states was not acceptable because the capital city was part of erstwhile Hyderabad state and it was backbone of the region for the development.

Referring to the ongoing housing schemes, Uttam claimed that his ministry was the first among other departments in implementing the housing programme under SC and ST Sub Plan in this financial year. About Rs 1,400 crore has been allocated for SC and ST housing scheme targeting to construct 3 lakh houses this year. Proposals were also prepared to construct houses for those who lost their homes in the recent floods that ravaged the State.
