SD eye hospital gets retinopathy clinic

Minister for Medical Education and Arogyasri Kondru Murali Mohan, on Thursday, inaugurated Rs 2 crore worth of machinery including Ultra Sound Bio Microscope and machine for Corneal Topography apart from Retinopathy of Prematurity (ROP) Clinic, which is first of its kind in the entire State, at the Sarojini Devi Eye Hospital in the city.

Hyderabad: Minister for Medical Education and Arogyasri Kondru Murali Mohan, on Thursday, inaugurated Rs 2 crore worth of machinery including Ultra Sound Bio Microscope and machine for Corneal Topography apart from Retinopathy of Prematurity (ROP) Clinic, which is first of its kind in the entire State, at the Sarojini Devi Eye Hospital in the city.
He also inaugurated the renovated Dr Sivareddy Choultry for the patients’ attendants. Speaking on the occasion, he announced a few more such type of centres would be set up in Vizag and other places in the State very soon. On the eve of Eye Donation Fortnight, the Minister pledged to donate his eyes and gave a call to all sections of the people to donate their eyes. “At present only 30 per cent of eye donations are taking place which is very less for the required corneal donations,” he informed.
Principal of Osmania Medical College P Srinivas Rao and Superintendent of Sarojini Devi Eye hospital Dr PV Nandakumar Reddy also announced the donation of their eyes. Dr PV Nandakumar Reddy said, “Because of the consistent support by the government, Sarojini Devi Hospital today is equipped with high-end medical technology to provide qualitative eye care services to the public.” RMO of the hospital Rathod, officials and doctors of the hospital took part in the programme.
