The Unique Book of World Records added a new category to accommodate 10-year-old Gade Parineetha’s name in its pages at Ravindra Bharathi on Friday. Gade Parineetha, a fifth class student from Johnson Grammar School, Habsiguda, created the new record by calling out letters and numbers on flash cards, blindfolded.

The attempt was to read 50 cards in a minute but the 10-year-old bettered it by reading 101 cards. The girl stated that the feat was possible because of her trainers Hitesh and Dr Sai Kiran. Parineetha was trained in ‘mid-brain activation’ and according to Dr Sai Kiran, “It is the pineal gland that gets activated which helps kids perform this kind of tasks.”

Parineetha performed the feat under the presence of Justice Challa Kodanda Ram and adjudicators from the Unique and Wonder books of records. Overjoyed by his daughter’s feat, Gade Pavan Kumar said, “I was skeptical when Sai Kiran told about this. But I took a chance. Now, I am extremely happy.”

The trainers claim that the technique can only be taught to children between 5 and 15 years. Once trained, the kids tend to be more focussed and their concentration levels increase. However, there were more than a few doubts on the technique as no doctor was present at the event to ratify the claim.
