Marwari women observed Gangaur, a 16 to 18 day festival widely celebrated in Rajasthan and some parts of Haryana, Madhya Pradesh and Gujarat, on Monday. Women worship Gauri, the consort of Lord Shiva, during the festival. Both married and unmarried women observe the festival. While unmarried girls pray to the goddess for a good partner, married women celebrate the festival for the well-being of their husbands.

Gangaur starts from the first day of Chaitra, the next day following Holi, and concludes with the immersion of idols.
