London: A 10-year-old home-schooled girl, who is a maths genius, has become one of the youngest students in the UK to enroll in a university. Esther Okade is studying for an Open University maths degree. She became an undergraduate three weeks ago and has scored 100 per cent in a recent test.
The youngster's incredible grasp of calculations seemingly runs in the family as her sixyear- old brother is already taking an A-level in maths, Mirror reported. Esther completed months of tests and interviews before being accepted to the course.
She aims to get a First Class honours degree in two years and is already setting her sights on a PhD. Esther's mother said applying to the university was an interesting process because of her age. "We even had to talk to the Vice-Chancellor. After they interviewed her they realised that this has been her idea from the beginning," said Esther's mother, who home schools her.
