Khammam: Everyone must strive hard for achieving 100 per cent literacy rate among women, advised MLA Puvvada Ajay Kumar here in Khammam on Friday.

The MLA attended as a chief guest to the programme called ‘Akshara Khammam’, organised under the leadership of the founder of ‘Vibrants of Kalam Organisation’ Vijay Kalam on the occasion of ‘International Literacy Day’ here at Bhaktaramadasu Kalakshetram in Khammam on Friday.

Appreciating the efforts of the Organisation, Puvvada said taking them as an inspiration everyone must come forward and must educate the illiterates to make the district 100 per cent literate.

Meanwhile, Dr Chandravathi hoisted the tricolour on the occasion of International Literacy Day. Several cultural programme were organised in which the students of various educational institutions participated actively. Especially the song sung by noted singer Madhu Priya enthralled many.

Later, the representatives of the Organisation felicitated eight members of women who were striving hard in their respective fields and standing as a good example for the women of present generation.

Deputy Mayor Battula Murali Prasad, HFCS Bank Regional Manager Santhosh, Corporator Naga Raju, Educationists Arun, Kiran and Sathya Murthy were present along with others.
