Kothagudem: The Telangana Boggu Ghani Karmika Sangham (TBGKS), the trade union affiliated to the ruling TRS party, scored a thumping victory in the Singareni elections which were held across six districts on Thursday.

The Sangham emerged winner in nine of the 11 divisions of Yellandu, Managuru, Bellampalli, Corporate Office (Kothagudem), Srirampur, Kothagudem, Ramagundam 1,2 and 3.

The All India Trade Union Congress (AITUC), affiliated to CPI, which entered the fray with the support of Indian National Trade Union Congress (INTUC) of Congress and Telugu Nadu Trade Union Council (TNTUC) of Telugu Desam Party, won in Bhupalapalli and Mandamarri. Of the total 52,534 workers, 49,876 exercised their franchise.

Activists of the TBGKS, which registered its first victory in Yellandu, celebrated by bursting crackers.

Speaking to The Hans India, Nizamabad MP and honorary president of TBGKS Kalvakuntla Kavitha said that the Singareni workers had reposed their confidence in Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao.

She claimed that the SCCL results showed that the people were backing KCR. The MP assured the workers all the assurances promised to them by the State government would be honoured.
