Warangal: With the news doing rounds that Warangal West seat has been allotted to the Telugu Desam, a host of Congress leaders owing allegiance to the DCC President Naini Rajender Reddy locked them in the party office demanding the leadership not to let the cadres down in the dumps.
Speaking to the media persons here on Sunday, Greater Warangal President Katla Srinivas Rao questioned the AICC chief Rahul Gandhi where has gone his word of giving prominence to loyalty and commitment.
“For over two decades, Naini Rajender Reddy has been trying his best to strengthen the party. It’s not all that easy to stick to a party with commitment while many others who enjoyed posts in the Congress crossed over to other parties in search of power,” Rao said.
He found fault with the leadership for allying with the TDP. Moreover, it’s learnt that both the Warangal West and East seats have been given to alliance parties. What kind of message that the leadership wants to send to the youth leaders, he said.
“The leadership didn’t even consult the senior leaders like Naini and me who have come through the ranks of NSUI and Youth Congress,” Rao said. Rahul ji assured that there would be no place for parachute candidates, he recalled.
He urged the leadership to reconcile its decision before allotting to the constituency to the alliance parties.
We have decided to sit on an indefinite hunger strike from this moment until the leadership changes its decision, Rao said. Several Division and Block presidents of the party were present.
