Chhota Rajan revealing names proved costly for him

The 55-year-old gangster landed in the Palam technical area along with a seven-member security team, including members of the Delhi police’s elite special cell and the crime branch of the Mumbai Police, in an IAF Gulfstream-III aircraft. Immediately after his arrival, he was taken into preventive custody by the CBI’s Interpol division.
The CBI will keep him in its custody at least till it completes all the legal formalities for registering a case of allegedly procuring a fake passport and takes over 70-odd cases handed over to it by the Maharashtra government.
Armed commandos have been stationed at the lockup at the CBI headquarters in the CGO Complex near Lodhi Road, where Rajan has been kept.

Meanwhile, it was learnt that revealing his original name to the immigration authorities when asked to step out of the queue at Bali in Indonesia landed underworld don Chhota Rajan in the security net and he was arrested soon after.
Giving details about the arrest of the don in Indonesia, CBI sources on Friday said that when he was asked to step out of the queue at Bali by the immigration authorities and identify himself, Rajan told his real name is Rajendra Sadashiv Nikalje and not Mohan Kumar as mentioned in his passport.
They said after this, the Indonesian authorities were confirmed that he was the person against whom Red Corner Notice was issued.
The authorities then started identification pro-cess and 11 out of 18 points of finger print samples given in the notice matched, which confirmed his identity.
The sources said he would soon be produced before a magistrate for custody. The threat perception is very high in the case of Rajan, who might be targeted by his underworld foes, said the senior official.
