New Delhi: Will the BJP implement Plan B and force byelections in five Lok Sabha constituencies in Andhra Pradesh for which the YSRC members submitted resignations? This is the speculation that is making rounds in the corridors of political parties.

According to political observers, the BJP is seriously considering this option to put the TDP in the dock. The calculation of the BJP, sources say, is that it will help in diverting the issue and push the TDP into focussing all its energies on the five Lok Sabha seats. This would also become a sort of trailer to judge the mood of the people of Andhra Pradesh. In fact, it could be hitting two birds with one stone.

If TDP fails to win these seats, then it would help the BJP to decide on the open alliance with YSRC. If the results are otherwise, then the BJP would have to work out different action plan and may even have re-think of direct or indirect alliance with YSRC.

However, a section of senior leaders of BJP are said to have briefed BJP national president Amit Shah that this could be a risky proposition.

The people of Andhra Pradesh are angry with the BJP and with the TDP going hammer and tongs alleging that there was an unwritten understanding between the BJP and YSRC, it could boomerang and cause greater damage. It remains to be seen how the YSRC would react to such a proposal.
