Bringing cheers to millions of Malayalees living away from their home State, Kerala Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan formally launched the Pravasi Pension Scheme of the Kerala Pravasi Welfare Board by giving away the first Pravasi Pension Card to a woman member. The programme was organised by the All India Malayalee Association (AIMA), Telangana unit.

Hyderabad: Bringing cheers to millions of Malayalees living away from their home State, Kerala Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan formally launched the Pravasi Pension Scheme of the Kerala Pravasi Welfare Board by giving away the first Pravasi Pension Card to a woman member. The programme was organised by the All India Malayalee Association (AIMA), Telangana unit.

Vijayan also handed over the key of the AIMA’s ambulance to one of the sponsors, Joby Mani. The Kerala Chief Minister handed over the Certificate of Recognition of the NORKA-ROOTS to the President of AIMA-Telangana, TSC Prasad.

Later speaking at the function, Vijayan said the contribution of Pravasi Malayalees (non-resident Keralites) to the economic progress and overall development of Kerala was immense. He said his government always gave priority to the welfare of pravasis. He appealed to the Keralites in Telangana to work in unity to implement all these welfare schemes.

Kerala Tourism and Cooperation Minister Kadakampally Surendran also underlined the importance being given by the Kerala government for the welfare of Pravasi Malayalees. He praised the AIMA for taking up the welfare schemes in right earnest. Special Representative of Telangana Government in Delhi Dr S Venugopalachary flagged off the AIMA Ambulance. He praised the service nature of Malayalees and assured all help from the Telangana government to the AIMA in its activities.

Chairman of the Pravasi Welfare Board P T Kunhi Mohammed, Executive Vice Chairman, NORKA-ROOTS, K Varadarajan, national president, AIMA, Gokulam Gopalan, Director, Cultural Affairs, Telangana, M Hari Krishna, AIMA-T general convenor K Surendran, president TSC Prasad and treasurer T V Verghese were present. AIMA-T vice president C G Chandra Mohan proposed a vote of thanks. Later, a colourful cultural programme was presented by the Kerala Folklore Academy consisting of Kalarippayattu, Urumippayattu, Moppilapattu and Nadanpattu.
