BENGALURU: The residents of Thubarahalli Village are campaigning to make their village road motorable, but BBMP hasn’t even started it .
Despite several complaints and agitations, the 2k strip of land used as a road for residents of Devarabeesanahalli, Bangalore, doesnt even have street lights, footpaths and drains. They also said that when it rains puddles turn into cesspool
One resident of Thubarahalli said , “That road hasn’t been repaired since 2008. Village was initially not with many people. With so many tech parks nearby, area has grown over time”.
Prominent builders and two famous schools have given the locality a makeover but road connectivity is always a worry. Its is very difficult to drive to potholed road, many accidents have also taken place, said Balaji Rapka, a software employee.
Their complaints failed to get any response from the authorities, the residents hit the streets first protest was in October 2013 following which BBMP Officials promised to build a road in 5 years, but nothing has changed.
Under the banner of Greater Thubarahalli Residents (GTR), they tried to build road by themselves but Palike allegedly stopped them from doing so. “They aren't doing anything not letting us repair. Said, Raghukumar P, representative of GTR.
The two famous schools in Thubarahalli which together have 10,000 children also complained that children using this stretch to reach school every day are suffering from backache and other hazards.
Residents decided to have a silent protest on October 27 on Vibgyor School road, Thubarahalli village.
Shweta Vijay kumar, corporator from Doddanekundi ward under which this village falls said, builders were kicking up a ruckus. “Whenever we try to fix the road, adjacent landowners stop us claiming that road is their property”, She alleged.
