Bid to provide basic facilities in all colonies

Srikakulam: "We will create basic facilities in all colonies of the town," said Minister for Roads and Buildings Dharmana Prasad Rao. He laid foundation-stones on Friday for Cement-Concrete (CC) roads at Balaga Kummari Street in Ward 1, near Shivalayam in Ward 4 and from HB Colony to LBS Colony in Ward 24, under non-Plan expenditure. When the local women wanted water taps and street lights, the minister instructed the Municipal Commissioner to provide these at the earliest. The minister said that other roads, besides CC roads, will also be constructed. Women from the slum areas adjoining the LBS Colony came forward to construct personal washrooms. Responding to an appeal by some women for providing houses, the Roads and Buildings Minister said that they would be sanctioned if sites were available. He said that land was being acquired specially for the poor persons.
