In the last century, people have forgotten that their food, their thoughts and their actions have a direct relation to health and the only reason they looked after their bodies is to look good. We have to remember that our body is the outfit that we have chosen to wear, and it has to last us our entire life.

Everything that goes on in our body is like a miracle and we have to honour it. We can control what goes into our body so being sick is not normal. What we put into our body does matter and whether we feel at ease or diseased is important. Nutrition therefore plays a very important role in our well-being. It was recently World Cancer Day so let me share with you some knowledge that I have gained over the years on nutritional immunology.

When we breathe a byproduct is free radicals in the body. These free radicals can get attached to healthy cells and may cause cancer. Nature has an antidote that is your antioxidants found abundantly in natural yellow, green, orange, red and all other natural colours found in the plant kingdom. Unfortunately, today free radicals are not only a byproduct of breathing.

They are caused by the chemicals, pesticides abundantly used in air pollution; processed foods, refined white flour and sugar, foods cooked at high temperature, reused oils, stress are just some of the carcinogens that can increase the risk of cancer.

Fear not the dreaded C word. Instead let’s look at solutions that can stop this onslaught. In India we have a much lesser rate of cancer as compared to the USA. During my experience in the last few years I have realised that there are some wonderful herbs and spices in the Indian diet that help in fighting cancer or survive through it.
