Xolo, as expected, has launched its new Omega-series smartphone, called the Omega 5.0, priced at Rs. 8,999. The company alongside has also unveiled the Xolo Omega 5.5 at Rs. 9,999. The company also revealed that Android 5.0 Lollipop update will be rolled out to Omega 5.0 and Omega 5.5 users without giving an exact time frame.

The company also revealed that Android 5.0 Lollipop update will be rolled out to Omega 5.0 and Omega 5.5 users without giving an exact time frame. Notably, the Xolo Omega 5.0 and Omega 5.5 are the new smartphones from the company to run the proprietary Hive UI - the first was the Xolo 8X-1000.

The Omega 5.0, much like the 8X-1000, is powered by a 1.4GHz octa-core MediaTek processor. However, it packs a different chipset - MT6592M. The dual-SIM device comes with 1GB of RAM and includes 8GB of built-in storage, which is further expandable via microSD card (up to 32GB).

It features a 5-inch HD (720x1280 pixels) IPS display offering a pixel density of 294ppi. It sports an 8-megapixel autofocus rear camera with LED flash, f/2.0 aperture, and Exmor R Sensor, while also housing a 2-megapixel front-facing camera. The rear camera can record videos at 1080p (full-HD) resolution. It packs a 2100mAh battery with no word on talk time and standby time. Connectivity options on the Xolo Omega 5.0 include Bluetooth 4.0, Wi-Fi, Micro-USB, GPRS/ EDGE, and 3G. It measures 144x72x10.5mm and will be available in Black colour.

The Omega 5.5, as the name suggests, features a 5.5-inch IPS HD (720x1280 pixels) display. It sports a 13-megapixel rear camera with Sony Exmor RS sensor and a 2-megapixel front camera. It packs a 2600mAh battery. Other specifications of the Omega 5.5 are identical to the Omega 5.0.
