Hyderabad: The APNGO president P Ashok Babu and his colleagues met the Deputy Chief Minister Mohammed Mahmood Ali on Friday and registered their protest against the decision of the Telangana government to take back 189 acres of housing society land.

Ashok Babu said that he had told the Deputy CM that there was nothing illegal about the allotment. It was also wrong to say that the land belongs to Andhra employees.

He said the APNGOs housing society was formed much before the T movement was started and the land was allotted in 1992. About 35 to 40 per cent of the members in the society are from Telangana, he told Mohammed Ali.

He said he had also explained him about the legal wrangles in which the land was involved and no construction activity could be taken up due to the courts directive to maintain status quo.

He added that the Telangana government's decision gives an impression that the government was indulging in vindictive action. According to Ashok Babu, the Deputy CM asked them to meet the Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao and discuss the issue with him.
