Hyderabad: Telangana TDP Committee on Friday resolved to put pressure on the TRS government to implement the promises it had made during elections and to take measures to strengthen the party in the State.

TDP president N Chandrababu Naidu held a meeting with the committee attended by its president L Ramana and other members including M Narasimhulu at the camp office here.

Speaking to newsmen after the meeting, Narasimhulu said that his party would welcome Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao’s government if it implements the welfare and developmental schemes. “The only agenda before the TDP is to mount pressure on the government for the development of the new State. The party will not hesitate to launch agitation if the government fails to live up to the expectation of the people,” he said.

Dismissing the reports that some TDP leaders from Telangana were planning to join the TRS, he said the TDP would remain a strong party in the T state and would be strengthened further in future. Efforts were already on to constitute a committee to give a direction to the party in the next 15 days, he added.

Ponnala condemns FAST

On the other hand, the TPCC president Ponnala Lakshmaiah condemned the decision of the T government to introduce FAST scheme. In a statement he said that it appears that the T government wants to dump the Fee reimbursement scheme. He also criticised KCR for coming up with new guidelines like taking 1956 as the cut off date. He urged KCR not to play with the lives and careers of the students.

He said lakhs of students had benefitted from the scheme and if the new government finds that there were some lacunae, it should make necessary corrections but should not scrap the scheme.
