Hyderabad: Technical glitch in 500-MW Kakatiya Thermal Power Station (KTPS) has forced the power utilities to impose unscheduled power outages in many parts of Telangana State on Wednesday. TSGenco Director (Thermal) M Achutanandam said that power generation has been stopped in the Bhupalpally power plant in Warangal district after the failure of boiler tube.

The error would be rectified and power generation would be resumed by Thursday morning, he said. The sudden stoppage of power generation increased the gap between demand and supply. The power demand at the peak hours was 140 MU (million units) and the supply has been reduced to 132 MU only. To bridge the gap, power cut has been imposed in the district for one to two hours in the day time, an official said.
