The Majlis-e-Ittehadul Muslimeen (MIM) has come up with a new slogan to unite adivasis, Dalits, Muslims to fight against communal forces and to strengthen its political base in the changed political scenario in the country.

The new slogan ‘Jai Bheem, Jai Meem’ taken up by the MIM to new heights as a public meeting was organized on Saturday in Maharashtra and Nagpur where the RSS has its headquarters. The MIM intends to woo Dalits with ‘Jai Bheem’ that refers to Dr B.R. Ambedkar and ‘Jai Meem’ is meant to attract the Muslims as the Urdu alphabet is equivalent to ‘M’.

With the recent election results in Maharashtra, MIM leaders believe that the party’s slogan has hit the right nerve as they won two seats indicating the success.

As B.R. Ambedkar embraced Buddhism along with thousands of his followers in Nagpur in 1956, it is also considered a sacred place by Dalits. The Nagpur meeting is said to be attended by a large number of Dalits and Muslims which is to be addressed by Mr Owaisi.

Mr. Owaisi is expected to highlight the recent political developments at Nagpur and might announce the party’s future political course along with portraying significance in the backdrop of the right wing ghar wapsi programme and other developments. Farooq Ahmed, the MIM leader from Adilabad informed that MIM has received the support extended by some Dalit organizations.
