Hyderabad: Reiterating that his government was committed to the cause of the poor and weaker sections, Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao Tuesday announced in the Assembly that “fine quality rice” will be supplied to Anganwadi centres across the State. When the Chief Minister said, he being a slim man, will distribute small-sized rice (fine rice) to the Anganwadi centres in two months, the entire House burst into laughter.

He remarked that the previous ‘stout’ rulers of the Congress Government gave plump rice to the poor. “We are being slim, we will distribute “thin rice” or fine rice”, he stated. KCR, who gave a patient hearing to the Opposition members on various issues, said the government would certainly construct two-bedroom houses for the poor besides taking stringent action against those committed irregularities in the housing scheme during the previous government on getting a CID report on alleged irregularities.

“We will collect such looted money from the culprits and divert the same for completion of pending works of the houses”, he maintained. “Though the Congress failed to keep its promise of providing shelter to the poor and indulged in corruption, we will complete the poor housing scheme”.

KCR also appreciated his AP counterpart N Chandrababu Naidu for denying power to Telangana from Krishnapatnam as it helped us from losing Rs 2,500 crore, he said. However, he maintained that the TRS Government will move the court to get its due share of power form Sileru project. “The government’s objective is to provide at least three acres of land to Dalits, who should develop”. Opposition members raked up several issues including fine rice, housing to poor, financial assistance to farmers in distress and succour to kin of families of farmers, who committed suicides. KCR said every promise made will be kept.
