In a dismal performance, Nalgonda district stood last with 43 pass percentage in the results of first year Intermediate, as against the average 55.56 pass percentage in the State. Out of the total 37,602 students appeared for the intermediate first year exams, 15, 982 students passed making the pass percentage as 43. Out of 18,827 boy students, 6,673 (35 percent) passed in the annual exams.

Nalgonda: In a dismal performance, Nalgonda district stood last with 43 pass percentage in the results of first year Intermediate, as against the average 55.56 pass percentage in the State. Out of the total 37,602 students appeared for the intermediate first year exams, 15, 982 students passed making the pass percentage as 43. Out of 18,827 boy students, 6,673 (35 percent) passed in the annual exams. Similarly, out of 18,775 girl students appeared, 9,303 (50 percent) passed in the examination.

In total, there are 169 intermediate colleges including 26 government colleges, 119 private colleges, four private aided colleges and 12 cooperative colleges in the district. In these colleges, about 24,000 students were studying science courses - BiPC and MPC. The performances of students in the intermediate results were low for many years. In the last year, the district stood third from the bottom.

The efforts of the district officials to improve the quality of education in junior colleges and improve the pass percentage had not yielded any positive result. Educationalists are attributing the poor pass percentage to the lack of infrastructure and facilities in junior colleges. A lecturer, who on condition of anonymity, said most of the a junior colleges did not even have laboratory facilities to conduct practicals to science students.
