Congress vice-president Rahul Gandhi sat on the hunger strike with the agitating students of the Hyderabad Central University on Saturday. Rahul Gandhi even tweeted his participation in the hunger strike:

— Office of RG (@OfficeOfRG) January 30, 2016 The students are staging the fast against the University’s acting vice-chancellor Prof Vipin Srivastava and P Appa Rao whose names are lodged in the police complaint in connection with the death of research scholar Rohith Vemula and are demanding their resignations for their involvement in the suicide of the scholar.
Even the students from Osmania university also joined the protest. On the other hand, the Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad (ABVP) called for a state-wide bandh in Telangana on Saturday to protest against the visit of Congress Vice President Rahul Gandhi to the Hyderabad Central University.
