Hyderabad: A mega control centre for over 800 closed circuit televisions (CCTV) installed under seven police station limits in the Secunderabad Cantonment Board (SCB) is to come up at the SCB office. A 36- feet video wall is also planned to be installed at a cost of Rs 1.8 crore.

  • A 36-foot video wall is to be installed in SCB office
  • Feed from 800 CCTV cameras will be stored on video walls

The SCB is planning to increase the number of CCTVs to 2,000 by covering every nook and corner of the cantonment in the coming years. In the past one year, the 800 cameras were installed in coordination with the Hyderabad City Police.

SCB CEO Sujatha Gupta said, “The video wall would help in solving crimes and also in nabbing anti-social elements. There are a lot of complaints from residents who throw garbage late at night. All such incidents can be captured on camera and the feed would be available on the video wall.”

The Hyderabad city police would be sharing the feed with SCB. A senior official of SCB said any commercial venture that has more than 100 footfalls should set up a camera. As per the AP Public Safety Act, every public place should have a minimum of three CCTV cameras at the entrance, exit and inner premises. Model police station to be built at Jubilee Bus stop

A model police station on 4,000 sq yards is to come up at the Jubilee Bus stop. The proposal was approved by the board members at a meeting on Saturday. Plans for a police station have been on the cards for a long time as the police station at West Marredpally and Kharkhana are small.

A few board members questioned why more than an acre was needed for a police station but with the intervention of Malkajgiri MP Malla Reddy and Secunderabad Cantonment MLA Sayanna the issue was settled and the members decided to approve 4,000 sq yards land beside Jubilee Bus stop for the construction of a modern police
station.
