Hyderabad: The Telangana Pradesh Congress Committee is uncertain on giving its own PowerPoint presentation on irrigation projects. The party had originally planned a PowerPoint presentation on April 9, now says that the presentation could be given either on 9th, 10th or 11th April. Further, it is still unclear on who would give the presentation.

On April 4, the party leadership had decided to organise a PPT presentation that will throw a direct challenge to Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao who had mesmerised everyone including some Congress leaders with his presentation in the Assembly. However, by the time the scheduled date, April 9, arrived, the State leadership has decided to further postpone the date without rescheduling.

TPCC Chief N Uttam Kumar Reddy during a press conference on Thursday deferred on the dates and could not specify a name on who would be making the PPT presentation in Gandhi Bhavan.According to some leaders who attended the party meeting over PPT presentation, the leadership could not arrive at a specified date or person who would be making the presentation.

At first it was decided to rope in former Major Irrigation Minister and former PCC president Ponnala Lakshmaiah who is well-versed about different projects taken up during the time of former Chief Minister Y S Rajasekhara Reddy. But the decision was backtracked as the State leadership came to conclusion that the leader may be targeted by the government machinery for talking against the government.

For now, there are no experts and it is likely that PCC president himself may take up this task,” said a Congress Legislature, who had attended the meeting. To add to the prevailing confusion, Leader of Opposition in Legislative Assembly K Jana Reddy is keeping distance on the issue. One of the priorities of the TPCC leadership remains taking Jana Reddy into confidence on its PPT. Even as confusion prevailed some leaders asked Uttam Kumar Reddy to build pressure on the government by visiting various projects rather than just confining to presentation.

“The only way forward for regaining the public support is to constitute an expert committee consisting of engineers and irrigation experts along with the senior Congress leaders and other Opposition parties. This committee should visit all proposed projects right from Maharashtra border to Polavaram on river Godavari and projects on river Krishna.”
