A day after Lord Rama’s celestial wedding, the devotees who thronged Bhadradri were engrossed in spiritual bliss again as they witnessed another mega religious event–Sri Rama Maha Pattabhishekam, the coronation ceremony, on Saturday.

Though the coronation fete didn’t draw as much crowds as the Lord’s wedding the previous day, the occasion was nothing short of splendour and religious gaiety.

The day’s rituals began with Suprabhata Seva, Balabhoga Nivedana Sevakalam, Baliharana, Mangalasasanam and Abhishekam. After the priests fetched holy waters of Godavari, the processional deities were taken to the Mithila Kalyana Mandapam amid the Mangala Vayidyams and kolatam of the devotees.

After Viswaksena puja and Punyahavachanam, the priests performed Samprokshana of the Kalyana Mandapam with the holy waters of Godavari.

As part of coronation, priests adorned Lord Rama with Padukalu, Raja Dandam, Raja Mudrika, Raja Khadgam, and Chathram. Finally, the jewellery-studded Kiritam (crown) was adorned to the Lord marking the end of the event.

Governor ESL Narasimhan presented pattu vastrams (silk clothes) to Lord Rama and his consort Sita. Earlier, the Governor received a traditional welcome from the temple priests and administration. Later, he offered prayers in the Sri Sita Ramachandra Swamy temple.

Minister for Roads and Buildings Tummala Nageswar Rao, Telangana government's special representative in New Delhi S Venugopala Chary, Husnabad MLA Voditala Sathish Kumar, Aswaraopet MLA T Venkateswarlu, district Collector DS Lokesh Kumar, Joint Collector D Divya, Superintendent of Police Shahnawaz Qasim and ITDA Project Officer Rajiv Gandhi Hanumanthu among others were present.
