Hyderabad: Is it the final nail in the coffin? It may well be conceived so, as the permanent venue for TDP’s annual conclave – Mahanadu is going to shift lock, stock and barrel from Telangana to Amaravati.

The party high command has reportedly decided to establish a permanent venue for the party’s annual meetings in Andhra Pradesh’s new capital – Amaravati. Mahanadu would be conducted somewhere between Vijayawada and Amaravati in May this year, a senior TDP leader, on the condition of anonymity told The Hans India on Saturday.

Majority of the leaders opined that the conducting meetings in Andhra Pradesh would make better sense due to the defections, including MLAs in Telangana to the ruling TRS.

It would also help in strengthening the party in AP, they opined. Mahandu is conducted every year since the party was founded by the then film actor N T Rama Rao in 1983. NTR chose the educational campus in Gandipet as the permanent venue.

The party’s conclave is held at Gandipet as a tradition, where the school and college have been established in memory of NTR. Only a few annual meetings have been conducted out of Hyderabad due to some political reasons.

The party ‘s AP unit and central committee offices have already started functioning from Guntur and permanent buildings for the party offices would be constructed at the new capital area. To establish a permanent venue for Mahanadu, the party is already scouting for suitable place.

Important policy decisions on political and economical issues taken during Mahanadu were being practiced strictly by the party.
As the party leadership already asked Telangana TDP to make arrangements for the participation of Mahanadu, Telangana leaders requested the party high command to hold a mini Mahanadu involving cadre and leaders ahead of the main meeting in Andhra Pradesh.

However, a decision would be taken in this regard at central party committee meeting to be organized in a week. “Arrangements for district-level Mahanadu is being planned to mobilise cadres in big numbers for the conclave,” a senior TDP leader said.
