Since the launch in March last year, the SHE teams are striving hard to guard women against eve teasers. They picked up about 600-eve teasers across the district in the last one year. Of these, 400 were below 18 years while the remaining was in the age group of from 18 to 40 years, said district in charge and CCS DSP V Sunitha Mohan.

​Nalgonda: ‘Since the launch in March last year, the SHE teams are striving hard to guard women against eve teasers. They picked up about 600-eve teasers across the district in the last one year. Of these, 400 were below 18 years while the remaining was in the age group of from 18 to 40 years,’ said district in charge and CCS DSP V Sunitha Mohan.

Counseling was given to the eve teasers, who were caught, and their parents or guardians also at the division police stations and at CCS located in Nalgonda district headquarters. According to official information, of the 600 offenders, 65 were sent to remand. Sunitha Mohan said that the SHE teams were getting appreciation from all quarters of the society for putting a stop to eve teasing in the district.

The district SHE teams have provided WhatsApp number 9963393970 along with Dial 100, mail id: [email protected], Facebook account: NL she team and Twitter account: NL she team for the victims to give information about eve teasers. The details of the victims or the people who give the information will be kept confidential.

District SHE team in charge Sunitha Mohan said that six SHE teams have been working in Nalgonda, Suryapet, Miryalaguda, Devarakonda and Bhongir police divisions and also in Kodad, where more educational institutions were located. Each SHE team consists of 3 men constables and 1 women constable, who will work in mufti.

The SHE teams were launched in the district in March last year and as part of the action plan, first two months were aimed to create awareness among the public on SHE teams formation and it’s functioning at places like educational institutions, bus stands, auto stands and public gathering centres.

From third month onwards, along with awareness meetings the SHE teams launched operations to put a check to eve-teasers in the district. The officers concerned requested the public, particularly girls and women, brave enough to inform the police about eve teasers. DSP Sunitha Mohan thanked District SP Vikram Jeet Duggal for his support and cooperation from day one since the formation of SHE teams.

The jeep of the SHE team was also playing a vital role on par with the staff with its uniqueness. High definition spy cameras were arranged to the vehicle which records the happenings in the surrounding areas when it stopped and while traveling also to trace out eve teasers and anti-social elements.
