Hyderabad: Urging the Krishna River Management Board (KRBM) to suggest to the Andhra Pradesh government to extend cooperation to the works of Rajolibanda Diversion Scheme (RDS), the Telangana State has addressed a letter to the board on Wednesday.

Irrigation Principal Secretary S K Joshi, in his letter addressed to the KRBM, said the RDS modernisation works were to be done to get 15.90 tmcft of water to Telangana State as per State Reorganisation Act and Krishna Tribunal.

Making it clear that Kurnool farmers would not experience any sort of loss due to the increase of height of the barrage, Joshi asked the KRBM to suggest to the Andhra Pradesh Irrigation Department officials to withdraw the letter written to the Karnataka government on RDS.

The Telangana government has released the letter addressed by the Kurnool district officials to Raichur District Collector, asking the latter to stop the RDS modernisation works.

More so, RDO from Kurnool district and a higher police officer visited the site and obstructed the works of modernisation of RDS. Reacting on it, the Raichur district officials stopped the works of RDS keeping the farmers’ agitation in view.
