Vemulawada temple works begin
In addition to the Rs 100 crore announced by Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao, the government has already released Rs 62.89 crore to take up the land acquisition, construction of a mini tank bund and desilting of Gudi cheruvu (temple tank) under Mission Kakatiya works.
​Karimnagar: Vemulawada Raja Rajeshwara Swamy shrine development plan set in motion with Minister for Irrigation T Harish Rao kick-starting the beautification works of the temple tank on Thursday.
In addition to the Rs 100 crore announced by Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao, the government has already released Rs 62.89 crore to take up the land acquisition, construction of a mini tank bund and desilting of Gudi cheruvu (temple tank) under Mission Kakatiya works.
Under the plan, 30 acres of the Gudi cheruvu will be given to the VTDA in which a second prakaram (compound wall) will be constructed.
This apart, the temple precincts include Abhisheka Mandapam, Nitya Kalyana Mandapam, Siva Kalyana Vedika, Sri Rama Kalyana Mandapam, Kalyana Katta and a queue complex for the devotees. The development also includes Teppotsavam and Dharmagundam (pushkarini) facilities.
In lieu of the tank land taken for the temple development, the VTDA will acquire adjacent 30 acres at an estimated cost of Rs 22.30 crore and merge it with Gudi cheruvu tank. This apart, another Rs 39 crore have been earmarked for the construction of 150-foot width mini tank bund road, two bridges, retaining wall and outlet canal of Gudi cheruvu.
Laying the foundation stone, Harish Rao said: “Though the previous rulers have neglected the development of Rajanna temple, the TRS government-led by KCR is committed to develop the shrine.”
He accused AP Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu for creating hurdles to the irrigation projects in Telangana. “Naidu, who wrote a letter to the Centre seeking stalling of the Kaleshwaram and Palamur lift Irrigation projects, says that he didn’t oppose Telangana’s moves,” Harish alleged, pointing out the AP’s letter to Raichur (Karnataka) authorities against carrying out works on Rajolibanda Diversion Scheme (RDS) anicut.
